My name is Giovanni Franco. I started in the automotive repair business when I was 12 years old. A close family friend noticed my love for cars and my mechanical ability's and asked me if I would like to learn the automotive repair and auto transmission repair buisness. He owned several import auto repair shops, as well as transmission repair shops. The Paramus, NJ location was closest to where I lived and that was the store he worked out of, so on Saturdays and during summer break I started learning hands on in the shop.
I pulled my first engine and transmission out of a BMW E12 Series at age 13. It had a 3.4 L six-cylinder in it. It was the first of the 5 Series that was made in 1972. It had a blown motor and the clutch was wiped out. I literally rebuilt it with my own hands under the supervision of an amazing German and import technician. He taught me everything, and only because I listened and did things exactly the way he wanted me too. I told him someday I would open my own shop and call it Amazing, just like him. He smiled and said I believe someday you will.
I had been around American muscle cars my whole life and have repaired and rebuilt so many of them. But the BMW technology was like nothing I had ever seen. BMW and Mercedes were so far ahead of the American car manufactures it was like being in another world. I couldn't have imagined it if I had tried. I have been in love with BMWs and German cars ever since. I also was a master technician for Infiniti for many years and was a service and parts director and consultant for Infiniti, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Mazda, GMC, Pontiac, Buick, Kia, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and many more before I opened my own shop. I have also taught automotive classes for many years. I've been in the automotive business now for 33 years and I hope to be in for another 33 years.
